Benjamin Peters's book is not only a scintillating explanation of why the Soviet Internet failed to materialize but also a first-rate sociopolitical investigative report and a delicious tale of how Soviet efforts to manage a command economy left them without either command or an economy.―Todd Gitlin, Professor and Chair, PhD Program in Communications, Columbia University; author of Media Unlimited: How the Torrent of Images and Sounds Overwhelms Our Lives (2017-01-01)Peters offers a compelling account of the Soviet Union's failed attempts to construct their own Internet during the Cold War period. How Not to Network a Nation fills an important gap in the Internet's history, highlighting the ways in which generativity and openness have been essential to networked innovation.―Jonathan Zittrain, Professor of Law and Computer Science, Harvard University; Director, Berkman Center for Internet & Society (2017-01-01)As early as 1962, cybernetics experts in the Soviet Union proposed a complex, large-scale computer network. It fit with a socialist vision but not with bureaucratic politics and a faltering command economy. It was never realized, but the story sheds light both on Soviet history and on the social conditions that shape computing and communications networks. It is a previously unknown story, now elegantly told by Benjamin Peters together with a thoughtful analysis that makes the early history of computing seem full of possibilities not obvious.―Craig Calhoun, FBA, Director and President, London School of Economics and Political Science

Peters book on Networking the Soviet Union is less a tale of the technology developed in the then Soviet Union than a tale about the structure of the centralized bureaucracy that managed to nearly bankrupt the entity. As regards to the actual technology I would go back to the mid-1970s when I was in Washington. At the time I was at Comsat and was "befriended" by the Technical Attaché at the Czechoslovakian Embassy. Also the home of the Cuban delegation as less than an idle point of interest. As part of my tasks at the time I followed my new friend around as he tried from one occasion to another to collect data on US telecommunications and network systems. At the same time, I had the task of connecting what was then the early stage of the ARPA Net to the Intelsat system connecting Etam West Virginia to Goonhilly in the UK and Trondheim in Norway. In the US we basically placed all of this in the public domain so I would guess my "friends" job was fairly easy.I saw him I believe in the Fall of 1977 at a Conference at Cornell at which time the Diffie Hellman encryption algorithm was discussed. I guess that half the attendees were not necessarily who they may have said they were. Then some twenty plus years later I now had partners in Russia running my Russian network and the former head of the Czech PTT was now my Czech partner. My former "friend" used to work for him. Small world. Since I had worked on the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Negotiations in the late 1970s, doing the networking for the seismometers, my Russian friends clearly knew me. During one of my conversations I was told by my Czech partner, a senior figure both in Czech as well as Soviet circles that they used the Bell System Technical Journals to design their telecom systems and the IEEE journals for data systems. In fact, one of my Russian partners was one of the first to introduce the Internet to Russia and we completed the task in the late 90s. As such I have a different view than the author, one based on technical facts of the network and its operations. This book is NOT about the Internet or its Soviet clone from a technical or operational perspective. Rather it is about the Soviet bureaucratic system and the need to make some sense out of its overwhelming administrative overhead using networks on both the economic administrative side and the military side.Chapter 1 is a discussion of Wiener and Cybernetics. The author presents one of the best discussions regarding the acceptance of Cybernetics in the Soviet Union I have seen. Wiener was a brilliant mathematician and in addition could think in large scale systems. His book on Cybernetics was warmly received in the US but its theme was understanding large scale systems and the US was no longer, at that time, interested in that. It was moving from a War footing and into a capitalist industrial footing in the 50s. The Soviet Union on the other hand was further consolidating a centralized command and control economy and Wiener's ideas rang bells. Thus they adopted his view of the world. Chapter 2 presents a good overview of how the Soviet Union then took these ideas and tried to integrate them into this centralized world.Chapter 3 is allegedly an attempt to present the networks used. It really is a discussion of the people and the politics and not the technical issues. Although interesting I really wanted to see some discussion of what the Russian had implemented and how their designs differed from ours. There were a mass of varying data protocols and data speeds and network transport mechanisms that were developed in the US and I wondered what did the Soviets do in parallel. The author depicts the Soviet's response as a response to SAGE and then I wondered what the response was to the packet ideas of Baran. In fact, the work of Roberts and in turn Kahn at ARPA were almost all in the open literature and the goal was a survivable network, apparently perceived by the Soviets as a threat. If so I wondered just what they did. I am certain that there must now be a great deal of unclassified CIA and DIA reports that would clarify that but the discussion is missing.Chapters 4 and 5 go through the 60s and then 70-80s respectively and the author presents the principals who tried to accomplish something in this realm. The politics seemed to be always creating roadblocks and the innovation that ARPA allowed seemed to foster what we have today. The author has an interesting discussion on the Mansfield Amendment, that in 1969 put an end to DoD funding anything but specific program supported work. Until that time DoD funded what has become the foundation of our information based economy, and with Mansfield we saw a total collapse of that development. I often wondered if the Soviets saw that for what it did.Overall the book is an excellent presentation of the people and politics of what would become some of the infrastructure in the Soviet Union. I wondered what the role of a RosTelecom would be in that mix, an element not discussed. In addition, the Soviets had satellites the Molyniya System which were not equatorial but polar, and thus their communications ground stations were expensive and subject to failing. Their cable connections were also mixed with spotty interconnections across the wide expanses. The author provides some maps but it would have been more useful to have some detail. This is a well-organized and presentation of the system, as politics, not the system as technology. Given how closely the Soviets monitored US technology and how open we were then and now, I have often wondered what the Russian created from whole cloth and what was reproduced. The Russians were and are technologically on a par with the West in terms of human capital but it was often the weight of the system that slowed them down. That burden was lifted after the fall but I wonder how much may have returned.During the period from 1960 thru 1990 Russia developed a variety of networks, many for military use and many for central command and control. Based upon my own personal first hand experience working with them they clear were at the same level as the west. Thus in rethinking the book by Peters teviewed here, thought that his title was most likely totally out of place.Using the title How Not to Network a Nation: The Uneasy History of the Soviet Internet was in my opinion out of place. The Internet was a construct that grew out of the arrogance of AT&T more than any uniqueness on the part of US technology. If AT&T had agreed to work with ARPA then this would have just been an extension of the monopoly network. Instead the arrogance of the monopolist, the entity that saw itself above everything else, created the creative destruction that led to its collapse. Thus there is a real story of a set of brilliant technologists in Russia that may very well go untold. It was not a question of "How Not to" but the advantage the early ARPA team had in facing an adversary, not Russia but AT&T, and having the resources to overcome it.Perhaps some day there will be a work on Soviet networks, a works which commends the efforts of many brilliant men and women in Russia who created a parallel universe and who when the borders fell allowed in a seamless manner the full expansion of the global IP network. If one further looks at the time one also sees the IBM SNA network, akin to many of the centralized schemes we may see in Russia and Europe. But as a backdoor way to get around AT&T we had TCP/IP.Thus understanding the reality of what occurred, it is not, "How not to" but ask ourselves the question; what really happened. Also one hopes there is a tale of Russia's advances to tell the complete story. From that we can learn that our then adversaries were as bright as we think we were.

Thanks to Dr. Peters for an excellent exploration of an important moment in our collective (unconscious?) history. Relevant and recommended to all who enjoy history, complexity, and the internet. Also relevant for all who resist defining culture and identity as functions of their surrounding negative space.

Outstanding book.

There are often questions or ideas that when you first hear them, you ask yourself: why didn’t I think of that? In How Not to Network a Nation: The Uneasy History of the Soviet Internet , author Benjamin Peters (Professor, Department of Communication at the University of Tulsa) asks the simple question: why didn’t the Soviet Union create something akin to the Internet before the US did? This is the same Soviet Union that beat the US in the cold war space race. So why didn’t they do that when it came to interconnected networks?Peters writes that the Soviets did try to create an interconnected network, but were never able to get it right. The Soviets had no shortage of brilliant scientists that could have gotten them to that goal. So it was clearly not lack of brainpower that stymied the Soviets. The book begins with a somewhat dry overview of the global history of cybernetics and how it was used by the Soviets. Peters than gets into the intricacies of the mindset of the communist party and how it was what largely precluded the development of any sort of interconnected network.Victor Glushkov, one of the leading Soviet cybernetic scientists plays a large role in the book. He created what was known as the All-State Automated System (OGAS in Russian) which could have led to an autonomous ARPANET-like network in Russia if deployed. In fact, Glushkov proposed the idea of OGAS in 1962, years before ARPANET went live in 1969.Peters is of the opinion that while the Soviets had the raw brainpower to create an early ARPANET-like network, the failure to execute on that was due to entrenched bureaucratic corruption which was systemic in Communist Russia, in addition to conflicts of interest within the Soviet system. While the Americans saw ARPANET as a way to share information and knowledge, Soviet bureaucrats thought such a network would undermine communism and threaten their control of the Soviet economy.ARPANET was developed due to the collaboration of its developers in addition to grants from the National Science Foundation. Peters writes that ironically, the Americans that created ARPANET behaved more like socialists, while the Soviet scientists behaved more like capitalists.Peters has written the definitive narrative on the topic. For those looking to understand the Communist mindset in an information technology perspective, How Not to Network a Nation: The Uneasy History of the Soviet Internet is an interesting read.

A new story with an old soul. That's how this book has been described by others who have fallen in love with it and I could not agree more. I was surprised to find something that reminded me, powerfully, of Edith Nesbit, CS Lewis and George MacDonald - while being something completely different at the same time.A hero story, this is more Hobbit than Watership Down. More Narnia than Beatrix Potter. And it works. I was skeptical because I usually prefer my animal characters to be of the James Herriot kind - rather than the talking Beaver kind. But, this, like Lewis, somehow lets us forget that Heather and Picket are animals and instead we relate to the heroes in these interesting characters.I had a hard time getting into the story. Because I had no idea what the intention was, I struggled in the first few chapters. They were almost too pastoral for me. Looking backwards, I understand now that they are in fact much like the beginning of The Hobbit - the innocence of the Shire (I mean Nick Hollow) must be acknowledged before the adventure can begin.Once Picket and Heather and are on the run, the story comes alive.I have waited weeks to write this review because I want so badly to communicate the profound value of this humble and tender little story. Even two months later, words fail me.Heather and Picket are unwitting participants in an adventure that transforms them into the very best versions of themselves - in the old fashioned way. They suffer much. They struggle against themselves. They humble themselves. They confront their own worst attributes. And they do it with the help of incredible mentors and new friends who have their own complex histories. There is so much to love about this book. It feeds the imagination, nourishes the soul and fortifies the character of the reader.S.D. Smith is the creative force behind Story Warren - a website dedicated to being the horns of Rohan in our lives as we seek stories of truth, goodness and beauty that point our children to the Maker. There is a sincerity in S.D. Smith's writing that makes the reader feel like they too could be the heroes of their own stories. Like the greats that Smith loves (Tolkien, Lewis, etc.), he tells stories worth knowing. Stories which inform the moral imagination and continue to speak to the reader long after the book has been returned to the shelf. It is exactly as S.D. Smith says at Story Warren - they are on our side. They are allies in imagination.I have been asked about the intensity level of this book. I would put it at the same level as The Last Battle. My four year old had no problem with this book but he is not particularly sensitive. I think that it is fair to say that the intensity progresses as follows:NarniaThe Green Ember/The Black Star of KingstonThe Hobbit/The Wingfeather SagaThe Lord of the Rings

Okay, I'm a 42 year old father of 4. I have 3 daughters (16, 7, and 5) and one son (13). I saw this while browsing on Amazon and thought, "The cover looks cool. Hmm.. the reviews are good. I wonder if the kids would like to read this?" Well, I decided to take it for a test spin, so to speak, and, as it turns out, I loved it!I'm probably going to need to edit this review later after I read this out loud with my younger daughters and give their reaction but I thought S. D. Smith did a great job. There's an epic feeling here and the characters are just great. The illustrations are sure to pull your kids in--they're great.Anyway, I can't wait to read this with my kids and to continue the adventure with Picket, Heather, and the rest of the outstanding cast of characters.Check it out!

Rabbits? That has to be something cute like Beatrix Potter’s stories, right? That’s what I thought when I heard about this book by S.D. Smith. I picked it up anyway since it looked all right and might be something my little sisters would enjoy. Rabbits, seriously? No, these rabbits are different—they have swords, and a war, and a lost king. They have a well-written, compelling story (good enough to have quotes out of it!) that surprised me with its depth of plot. The cover shows that it was probably intended for middle graders. Sorry, eight-to-twelve-year-olds, I claim it. It’s mine. The Setting:Set in the fantasy world of Natalia—a world very much like our own—this book had a nice heroic and medieval feel. Since it’s told from the perspective of rabbits, that made the action quite different from your usual book; and it also made the regular dangers of the forest even scarier. Seriously, imagine being able to jump around like crazy while you are sword fighting or to give a wolf a hard kick with your hind legs. The Story:The story was very good, better than some things I’ve read that are for older audiences! At first glance, it seems quite similar to all the other oh-wow-we’re-the-lost-heirs-of-wherever books. Not so in the least! Very surprising and satisfying. There were also great lessons on forgiveness and heart-warming (even funny!) moments along the way.The Characters:I loved Heather and Picket—they were so real. (I even forgot they were rabbits at some points.) Emma, Gort, Uncle Wilfred, and Smalls were also great favorites of mine. I found Kyle and Helmer intriguing and couldn’t wait to find out who they really were. The Concerns:Parents should have caution in choosing this book for younger readers because of some intense, un-graphic action and some bad attitude that is later resolved. Also, SPOILER ALERT!!!! Heather and Picket’s home is burnt by some pretty scary wolves, and they don’t know what happened to their parents and baby brother. And because they are rabbits (that’s not important though, right?) when they are underground there is mention of creepy creatures chasing them and the wolves do threaten to eat them sometimes. And, SPOILER ALERT AGAIN!!! massive battle at the end does mention rabbits being dead or wounded. So—read this book!!!!! I found it to be an awesome, well-written story! It is actually the second book, but it can pretty much stand-alone.

Courage, fear, loyalty, betrayal, secrets, and promise ... this story captured the imagination of our entire family (with children ages 1-18) and held us in its grasp until the last page.Worth every penny.

The Week-by-Week Vegetable Gardener's Handbook: Make the Most of Your Growing Season, by Ron Kujawski

From Publishers Weekly

Using the first and last frost as guideposts, father and daughter Kujawski guide would-be gardeners through the growing season and beyond, with plenty of tips and tricks to ensure a great harvest. Beginning with basics like site selection and soil preparation, the Kujawskis walk readers through the basics of seeding and planting, transplanting sensitive plants along with canny tips like using cover crops like clover or grasses as well as vinegar and clove oil to keep weeds at a minimum. Though the authors do offer suggestions on making the most of the harvest by freezing and canning, the book will be most useful during the growing season itself. Once readers have set the wheels for a small garden in motion, the book's weekly worksheets, with timely advice on which plants can be planted or harvested as well as maintenance tips for specific crops, are likely to be the most useful. Gardeners will appreciate the book's soft cover, though its pages are likely to get dirty from frequent consultations in the back yard, which is probably the intent. (Dec.) (c) Copyright PWxyz, LLC. From Booklist

The Kujawskis’ handbook supplies “breadth and brevity rather than depth of information” as it provides a week-by-week, yearlong gardening calendar suitable for all gardening zones and useful for all home growers, especially newcomers to the pursuit. The father-daughter authors note that getting started is “often a matter of overcoming inertia,” and begin by discussing the properties of soil and its testing, techniques for space saving, and location, location, location. Enhanced by many useful line drawings, this how-to covers the finding and using of last-frost dates for readers’ customized weekly planners, which accurately schedule indoor sowing (20-15 weeks before last frost); fertilizing; (trans)planting; pest control; harvesting; and more. Making each week’s to-do list clear and manageable are charts placed alongside easily read boxed information, such as “Garden Smart in Hot Weather” and “Weed Management 101,” that complement lined blank pages with ample room for personal notation. Instructions for “putting food by” for winter consumption, resource listings for growing tips, recipes, seeds, and suggested further readings complete this year-round gardener’s companion. --Whitney Scott

I am an experienced gardener. When I received this book, I wondered if I would really learn anything from it. I was pleasantly surprised. One thing that was unclear when I read the description was the week by week and how it applied to each zone. The first thing you do is mark your last and first frost date. The book is broken into weeks based on those dates so you can use it according to your area.

I haven't put this book down since I got it, really, I take it to work with me and read on breaks, too!Been highlighting and making notes of what will be very important to me in my garden. It's useful now as I am late on starting some seedlings indoors, so will be doing that this weekend! Really puts what needs to be done and when in perspective, very helpful and lots of great tips to make gardening easier and fun!I have been saving articles from magazines on gardening for years and now cut out some things from them and pasted them into this wonderful book on pages that apply for the subject discussed. Fun to add your own notes and tips and have a keepsake type of garden journal and notebook that will be used, written in and can be passed down to your kids later in life.Worth every penny, thanks to the authors for taking the time to make this book, a lot of thought was put into it and I just love it! Also, have to add that it's great the authors geared the book towards organic type of gardening too.

This book won't work for everyone. It claims it will, but unless you can figure out how to tamper with the timeline on your own, sorry, nope. (As a beginner, I'm not sure how to do this). My last frost is approx. April 3. So, for me, I'm being told to pinch up late tomato blossoms in late June (when things are barely getting going!) and ripping up my plants before we even get to the tomato boom in August! When the book has early winter coming during the peak of gardening season, something is off. (And yes, I double and triple checked my dates).I can't recommend this book if your growing season looks anything like mine (first frost Nov 11, Last frost Apr 3, approx). If you live somewhere with a very short growing season, it would be a great book and I'm jealous. This book is (mostly) weekly, so I realize it can be easy to think it will work for anywhere - esp. since you write in your own dates, but it simply WON'T.I'm bummed. It looked really helpful. If anyone can prove me wrong I'll gladly up my stars and use the book!

I wasn't expecting the book to start in January. I had some catching up to do when I got in March. It has so much useful information though. Great book for the beginner gardener wanting to get to expert level gardener. I told my boyfriend that its exactly the type of book you'd want on hand in print form for a zombie apocalypse. You'd be a pro after a couple read throughs and there's plenty of content to keep you entertained. My only complaint is that I wish it went over the process of actually starting a garden your first year a bit more, since this is my first year trying to start a garden at my new house. It's geared a bit more towards a garden routine year-after-year which should be super helpful in future years!

I bought this book thinking it would help me better plan out my garden throughout the year. While it did have everything sectioned in the weeks some of the information didn't really apply to my zone. Some of the time stamps for when they say to do things went past what Farmers Almanac and other information for my zone and state are saying. If I had to go back and do it again I probably wouldn't buy this book. I find it more reliable to check the internet and just make a list of what I'm growing and when my zone and state says to grow it.

As an amateur gardener I have been looking for something that would motivate me to get organized in my endeavors to plant my own garden. After a year of using this I found it to be very helpful and maybe a bit beyond my personal skill level and lazy gardening techniques. If you are super organized and would like to become more so look to this book as the answer.

I went through and pencilled in the first and last frost dates and tried to match up the dates with the timeline in the book, but I had "usable" growing season weeks left at the end, which I don't quite understand, espeically since I'm pretty sure I live in the same county as the authors. Regardless, it's a very good planner for what to do when, has lots of great advice for a new gardener like myself, and inspired quite a bit of impatience, as I started reading and using it before my garden was actually ready! Recommended for New Englanders (Zones 4 - 6), but I don't know how easy it would be to match up growing seasons for other (especially warmer) zones.

A pretty fair amount of useful info, though I think the organization could improve. There were a couple of times I found myself searching the first parts, because it said set out transplants of something that I didn't see anything about starting earlier. I was searching the chapter starts, which are 'TO DO' lists, and it was only mentioned in the text. Also, the whole thing is intended for you to determine your last frost date from local sources, and then put appropriate dates in the header. While this is quite good, it would have been helpful to have a table of regions or states with either the approximate dates, or a range of dates which historically have been the last frost. I say that becuase, at least here, the publishing of said date by the university system comes after some of the things should have been done.It is very well built, sturdy cover and binding, because it doubles as a notebook for recording things you will want to do differently next year based on whatever happened. To that end, I could say it could use some more pages for such info, and I would like to see some more info on some things, but those are minor points really.Overall, a great book for someone with moderate to little experience with growing crops.

I had the opportunity to meet both Jane Jacobs (Thanks to Richard Keeley of Boston College, her papers are housed at BC and she visited with students and numerous occasions) and listen to Peter Laurence discuss his book at BC. This fine book does justice to a remarkable life and illuminates an important period in Jane Jacobs development and thinking. It is a must read for people who want to know more about her and who want to explore cities in more depth. Read it along side her book The Death and Life of Great American Cities and Caro's The Power Broker.

This was an extremely thorough and fascinating look into the life and career of Jacobs. The manner in which it explains the plethora of people and ideas that influenced Jacobs in her work and policies is distinctive compared all other texts I have read on Jacobs. The book is also very easily readable and compelling; for as rigorously researched as the content of the book is, the tale of Jacobs' life is smooth and feels effortless, a testament to Laurence's skilled biographic storytelling. I would recommend this to students, academics, professionals, and scholars at all levels interested in gaining unique insight into the person, writer, planner, and advocate that was Jane Jacobs.

Excellent

Great Book !

I highly recommend this book, it tells you almost the whole life of Jane Jacobs, you will find what education, people, work experience had an influence lead her to the final Jane Jacob. It inspire me a lot. Because, the author of this book, Peter Laurence, use simple words and clear logic telling the whole story, which make it easy to read. For myself, making a professional article simple is very difficult. Finally, if you are interested in city or architecture, this book will lead you read many related books.

Masterpieces of the J. Paul Getty Museum: Illuminated Manuscripts

From Library Journal

This wonderful series catalogs selections from the J. Paul Getty Museum at the new Getty Center in Los Angeles, which opened to great fanfare this past December. Each volume focuses on a specific aspect and specialty of the Getty permanent collections, and each is produced by the curatorial staff of the respective divisions. Antiquities encompasses artistic works produced from the Bronze Age and geometric period to the Republican and Imperial Roman periods. Brief articles introduce the wide range of beautifully illustrated artifacts, including sculpture, painted terra cotta pottery, and jewelry. Each item is identified by date, size, and attribution, if known. Decorative Arts reveals the splendor and fine crafting of both functional and decorative items, including furniture and cabinetry, stoneware, glassware, porcelain, silver, and tapestry. Brief descriptions accompany each of the 100 masterfully illustrated items. This volume also includes an index to artists, makers, and manufacturers. Drawings focuses on a fraction of the major holdings in the Getty collection and includes a marvelous sampling of pastels, watercolors, pencil, pen-and-ink, and chalk works. Each of the 100 items represented have brief descriptions and are arranged by European schools of artists, including Blake, Daumier, Gericault, Leonardo da Vinci, Millet, Poussin, and Titian. Illuminated Manuscripts comprises a spectacular array of written artifacts among the masterpieces of medieval and Renaissance art and includes liturgical books, devotional books, and books of the Bible. Among those featured are Jean Froissart's The Chronicle and examples from Georg Bocskay's Mira Calligrapiae Monuments, which was illuminated by Hoefnagel. The manuscripts are arranged chronologically and the text includes brief commentaries on each item. The book concludes with a glossary of key terminology. Paintings focuses primarily on the European schools of Italian, Dutch, Flemish, and French works and gloriously represents some of the finest examples by Breughel, Monet, Rembrandt, Renoir, Van Dyke, and Van Gogh, to name a few. Descriptions accompany each work, and an index to artists concludes the book. Together the books comprise a wonderful panorama of art from one of the world's most notable collections. Two additional titles, on photography and sculpture, will be published later this year. Enthusiastically recommended.?Steven Thomas, Central Michigan Univ. Lib., Mt. Okay..I am a collector and lover of art books. I own several and I just have to say that no one puts an art book together like the J. Paul Getty Museum. The quality of the color and clarity of the photographs of the artworks are of superior quality. The price for their books is always very reasonable and I am always impressed with each and every one of the the Getty books I own. The Illuminated Masterpieces book contains some of the museum's finest pieces. It includes a beautiful, high quality illustration on almost every page with a thorough, but not "overwhelming" explanation and history of each piece. The Illuminated Masterpieces are varied and come from a several places throughout Europe. For those interested in Illuminated Manuscripts, you will not be disappointed!

Ahhhh as everthing that represents art from the J Paul Getty Museum is extraordinary. Worth every penny..... I received it in excellent condition about 5 days after ordering. Excellent service.

Excellent, good-sized book, with good illustrations and explanations of each piece of art - where produced, its dimensions, often explanations of how and why it was done and by whom.

A small book of a limited number of pages, showing repoductions of illuminated manuscripts over different eras in full colour.

Has to be one of the best books I have purchased to show illumination of manuscripts. I would urge anyone to add this to their collection.

The Getty always has such beautiful artwork. What I like about having the book is that I can learn a bit of information.

Excellent book

Very nice presentation of illuminated works.
