About the Author

Dr. David Platt, President of the International Mission Board, is deeply devoted to Christ and His Word. David’s first love in ministry is making disciples, sharing, showing, and teaching God’s Word in everyday life. He has traveled extensively to serve alongside church leaders throughout the United States and around the world.  A life-long learner, David has earned two undergraduate and three advanced degrees.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Bachelor of Arts in Journalism (A.B.J.) from the University of Georgia, and a Master of Divinity (M.Div.), Master of Theology (Th.M) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.  He previously served at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary as Dean of Chapel and Assistant Professor of Expository Preaching and Apologetics, Staff Evangelist at Edgewater Baptist Church in New Orleans, and eight years as the Senior Pastor of The Church at Brook Hills in Birmingham, AL. Yes, you do need the DVDs to get the most out of this book. The content is fantastic, although slightly redundant. My friends and I think the group discussion questions are good. My gripe with this book is it's simply too big! There is way too much room to write answers, so the book is larger than it needs to be. It could easily be the size of the other Radical books, which would be easier to carry around. Otherwise, I do recommend this one!

Excellent product!You do not need to have the book Radical along with this. This has basically 30 sessions that include about 7 or 8 deep discussion questions as well as ideas to talk about and passages to read. They build on one another. I'm trying to start a Men's group and this should definitely help!

The questions in this book are okay. It references DVDs frequently and it didn't come with the DVD. We bought this thinking it was a study guide to the book "Radical" by David Platt. It does not match up very well with the book, though making it difficult to use for our Bible Study after all.

The author clearly was called to mission work and was projecting that call on his congregation and readers. He was too literal and often contradicted himself. He made many good points, however, about poverty and affluence and Jesus' call to care for the disadvantaged.

I'm leading our church through the small group study and we love it... Sort of. Radical is such a challenging look at how we live as christians in the United States, and calling believers to examine all Scripture and live Radical lives. If you want flowery Jesus messages this isn't the study for you. If you want to be challenged to grow closer to God, live sacrificially, give to the poor, and get out of your comfort zone, then you'll love this study.I also recommend getting all the other Radical books

This book was not what I was hoping for. The videos are very boring and without much insight.

Ok book. Author takes liberty with scriptures. Should always read Bible and compare with any authors book. Keep in mind that the book is just his view of scripture.

I have read this book through 2 times and will be using it as a tool in our young married class. It challenged some of my mindsets about my lifestyle and the "American Dream". When I realized that many areas of my life are not sacrificial but rather what is comfortable I was left convicted of need for change.
