A present for our niece! She really likes it. I loved the movie based on this ( SO WEIRD!) as a child.
Book cake. Exactly as expected. I got it for my 6 year old daughter.. We read a chapter a night.. She loved it! The vocabulary is a little difficult because it's British and also old.. So a lot of the phrases she did not understand. It Def uses very adult vocabulary. Many of the paragraphs are describing sceneries and such with difficult language.. But mostly she understood and what she didn't I explained. In short this book is timeless and every child should. Read it.
I would not recommend this book for children. It has very strong negative suggestions about of people in different parts of the world. For instance, there is one chapter where Pippi appolizes for lying to her new friends then says it’s because she stayed in the Congo for too long where “there is not single person who tells the truth†(pg. 18). I was horrified as I read this with my 7 year old.
This book is the best. It's hilarious. It's got the perfect sense of humor for about ages 5-11 or so. Brilliant.
My 7-year-old daughter and I are reading this book together. She is enjoying the story laughing at Pippi's antics just like I did as a kid some 50 years ago. Yeah I'm an old dad lol
Pippy is strong, funny, self-reliant, and so entertaining. Boys and girls alike will enjoy all the Pippi books and come to love her hijinks and kindness. I read the series to my son when he was five. He would ask for one more chapter time after time. These are great first chapter books to introduce to young readers, but probably too challenging for them to read alone. Don't miss this classic character!
Fanstastic, engaging, and funny book, enjoyable by kids 5-10 and their parents, indeed. My two boys (6 & 8) are rolling on the floor every time we read a chapter, and quoting form it too. Love it.
My daughters love reading about Pippi and her unique view of the world. This is a great bedtime book as each chapter reads as a story all its own. My 6 year old loves Pippi so much that she dressed as her for "Dress as Your Favorite Character Day" at school. This book should be in every family's collection, especially if you have little girls like I do.
I read these when I was in school. My 5 year old loves me reading to her.
